What do you love most about your job? 

Extensive job exposure

I love my job because I can apply my knowledge and expertise directly. My extensive job exposure allows me to gain in-depth skills in building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, gas, chemical, wastewater systems, and facilities management. 

Hands-on nature and Collaborative

I enjoy the  hands-on nature  of the job, as it enables me to interact directly with equipment and technology. My role also often involves collaborating with various teams to tackle challenges, plan projects, and enhance workplace safety and efficiency. This aspect of the job is incredibly rewarding. 

My current manager inspires me. Despite being in his seventies, he is fit and energetic. He walks around the building daily to ensure everything is in working order. 

As a lifelong learner, he strives to keep his knowledge up to date to meet the needs of his team and profession. He is highly knowledgeable and always willing to give us job coaching and advice.  

I am inspired to be like him. Knowledgeable, capable of mentoring peers, and dedicated to my professional responsibilities. 

What is your favourite feature of the factory?

I like that Silicon Box has sustainable features that promote resource efficiency, such as a NEWater recycling system and heat-reflective windows. But my favourite will have to be the multi-grid voltage system that works with our rooftop solar panels. Apart from helping us create an alternative energy source for our operations, it has a striking experience that makes working up on the roof enjoyable.
